MacMillan Hunting Ancient Tartan. MacMillian Hunting Ancient is a colorful green-based tartan with red and yellow checks. There were Macmillan’s in Lochaber in the 12th century, but they later migrated to Lowers, in Perthshire. Clan MacMillan was in Knap dale, in Argyll, and Galloway. The Knap dale family gained importance and was considered the chief branch. Another prominent family was Dunmore. The Galloway Macmillan’s were noted Covenanters. The chiefship of the clan is now in the Lag Algarve branch.
